Valencia ist die bevölkerungsreichste Stadt der Autonomen Gemeinschaft Valencia und die drittgrößte Stadt Spaniens mit 809.267 Einwohnern im Jahr 2010 und ist auch eine der schönsten Städte Spaniens.
Valencia gilt als die drittwichtigste Stadt des Landes und nach Barcelona als die zweitwichtigste entlang der spanischen Mittelmeerküste. Valencia liegt in einem fruchtbaren Gelände an der Ostküste Spaniens und nahe der Mündung des Flusses Turia, in einer Region namens „Comunidad Valenciana“, die aus den Provinzen Valencia, Alicante und Castellon besteht.
Valencia ist auch weltweit bekannt für ein typisches Gericht, die Paella Valenciana, die im Wesentlichen aus Reis und Fleisch oder Meeresfrüchten besteht. Die Stadt Valencia besitzt ein dichtes monumentales Erbe, und ihr Wahrzeichen ist zweifellos die Stadt der Künste und Wissenschaften, ein avantgardistischer und futuristischer Museumskomplex.
Das Valencianische Museum der Wissenschaften Prinz Philip unterscheidet sich stark von anderen Wissenschaftsmuseen in Spanien, da es interaktiv ist. Sie sind herzlich eingeladen, an den Experimenten teilzunehmen – 15 Meter in einem Heliumballon gehoben, emblematische Darstellungen im Großformat wie ein Zeitpendel und die DNA-Leiter, an einfachen Sportexperimenten teilzunehmen und Grundlagenforschung zu betreiben.
Kathedrale von Valencia: eines der symbolträchtigsten Monumente der Stadt und weltweit bekannt. In den letzten 500 Jahren war es die Heimat des mythischen Heiligen Grals. Der berühmte „El Miguelete“, ein Turm aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, von dem aus die ganze Stadt zu sehen ist, ist eine weitere Sehenswürdigkeit.
Der größte Platz in Valencia ist der Placa de l’Ajuntament, der das Rathaus, ein Kino mit Filmklassikern und viele Restaurants und Bars beherbergt. Hier ist jeden Nachmittag während der Les Falles das laute Feuerwerk der Mascleta zu hören.
Der Hafen von Valencia ist der größte an der Westküste des Mittelmeers, der erste Spaniens im Containerverkehr im Jahr 2008 und der zweitgrößte Spaniens im Gesamtverkehr, der 20 % der spanischen Exporte abwickelt. Valencia wurde 2003 als erste europäische Stadt überhaupt als Austragungsort des historischen America’s Cup-Yachtrennens ausgewählt.
Im Sommer 2007 fanden die Spiele des America’s Cup statt, dann wurde der Hafen radikal verändert, indem der Hafen in zwei Teile geteilt wurde, wobei ein Teil unverändert blieb, während der andere Teil ausschließlich für die Feierlichkeiten zum America’s Cup genutzt wurde.
Die beiden Amtssprachen, die in der Stadt gesprochen werden, sind Valencianisch und Kastilisch, in der Vergangenheit war die vorherrschende Sprache Kastilisch, aber Valencianisch wird in den meisten umliegenden Metropolregionen und in der Provinz Valencia gelehrt und gesprochen.
La Tomatina ist ein Festival in der valencianischen Stadt Bunol, bei dem sich die Teilnehmer mit Tomaten bewerfen.
Es findet am letzten Mittwoch im August während der Festwoche von Bunol statt. Valencia erlebt ein mediterranes Klima im heißen Sommer mit semiariden Klimaeinflüssen.

Valencia is also famous worldwide for a typical dish, the paella valenciana, that is basically made of rice and meat or seafood.
The city contains a dense monumental heritage, and its landmark is undoubtedly the City of Arts and Sciences, an avant-garde and futuristic museum complex.
The valencian Museum of the Sciences Prince Philip is quite different from other science museums in Spain because it is interactive. You are cheerfully invited to join in on the experiments — lifted 15 metres in a helium balloon, emblematic representations in large size such as a time pendulum and the DNA ladder, participate in simple sports experiments and do basic science.
Cathedral of Valencia: one of the most symbolic monuments in the city and is worldwide known. It has been the home of the mythical Holy Grail by the last 500 years. Its famous „El Miguelete“, a tower from the 14th century from which all the city can be appreciate is other of its attractions.
The largest square in the City is the Placa de l’Ajuntament, which contains the town hall, a cinema which shows classic movies, and many restaurants and bars. This is where the noisy fireworks of the mascleta can be heard every afternoon during the Les Falles.
Valencia’s port is the biggest on the Mediterranean Western coast, the first of Spain in Container Traffic as 2008 and the second of Spain in total traffic, handling 20% of Spain’s exports. Valencia was selected in 2003 to host the historic America’s Cup yacht race, the first European city ever to do so. The America’s Cup matches took place in summer 2007, and then the port underwent radical changes in which the port was divided into two parts, one part remaining unchanged while the other section would be used exclusively for the America’s Cup festivities.
The two official languages spoken in the city are Valencian and Castilian, in the past, the predominant language is Castilian, but Valencian is taught and spoken in most of the surrounding metropolitan area and province of the City.
La Tomatina is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Bunol, in which participants throw tomatoes at each other. It is held the last Wednesday in August, during the week of festivities of Bunol.
